The University of Veterinary And Animal Sciences was founded in 1882. UVAS is a public university that is one of the oldest educational institutions of veterinary and microbiology departments. HEC regarded UVAS as one of the top universities in the agricultural category. The university's program aims to help the country's efforts in poverty decline, prosperity, livestock production, and the creation of a trained workforce.
The main campus of UVAS is in Lahore. Its additional campuses are in Pattoki, Jhang, and Bahawalpur. UVAS affiliated institutions are present in Okara, Sheikhupura, Attock, and Rawalpindi.
Uvas Lahore campus is the main campus offering undergraduate academic courses, post-graduate academic courses. UVAS is also offering some diploma courses. Hostel buildings are separate for girls and boys on the city campus. There are nine buildings out of which five are for girls and the rest for boys. Hostels are allocated to the students based on their length to stay in the hostel and academic performance. All the necessary facilities are provided to the students to make their stay pleasant and comfortable at the hostel. There are grassy lawns in the hostel premises separate for males and females. Mess facilities are also separate for boys and girls. Mess services are available at affordable prices. The mess committee keeps an eye on the food quality, menu, food prices, hygienic measures, and other stuff. Both boys' and girls' hostels have free internet services. The hostel provides a room where students can perform indoor game activities. There is a Tv room in each hall to keep students updated with national and international affairs. The sports complex is also in hostel premises common for boys and girls. The hostel services facilitate students with a tuck shop, fresh juice corner, water coolers, and fast food corner. There is a barbershop in the hostel for male students and a beauty parlor for female students. Near the main gate of the hostel, a Mosque is present.
The fee structure is different for morning and evening students and for students of each semester and degree program. UVAS hostel is allotted to the students purely based on merit.
